I first picked up a camera in 1995 as a high school freshman, and I instantly knew it would change the way I viewed the world. In an era of film cameras and darkrooms—long before the convenience of smartphones—I was hooked on the challenge of perfecting that one amazing shot in black and white.

 

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but to me, the right photograph is worth a thousand memories.

Fast forward twenty years and Wild Light Studio in Arvada, Colorado is born. While the last two decades have taken me down many different paths, photography has remained a constant thread in my life. I believe every step of that journey has led me here, to this moment, and I am incredibly excited to see what the future holds.


Why "Wild Light"? - The name represents my identity as a natural light photographer. Natural light can be unpredictable and wild, but understanding how to harness it is the secret to creating truly breath-taking imagery. Light is the foundation of photography and for me there is no better light than what our solar system provides. Being a photographer in Colorado gives us a distinct advantage; even in the depths of winter, our abundance of sunny days provides endless opportunities for beautiful, sun-drenched portraits.


I  have always felt a natural gravitational pull toward portrait and family photography because I love people. I am constantly amazed by the raw emotions a camera can capture: The quiet features of a face looking off into the distance, the tenderness  of two heads leaning together, the simple, grounding embrace of a loved one's hand, or the unmistakable spark in a child's eyes. Whether we are out in the tall grass or soaking up the sunshine among the flowers, these moments become tangible memories you can carry with you forever. My goal is to give you more than just a digital file—I want to give you a piece of your story to hold onto. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but to me, the right photograph is worth a thousand memories.
